Thought people might be interested in the link to the new cam at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. The box has returned to the origianl site on the historic Plummer building. This was the site that I handled my first chick nearly 20 years ago, and is one of my favorite sites to band young falcons. http://129.176.209.110/ is the link mayofalcon is the user name and 1234 is the password. Camera selection for close up on the side will be for camera 1 and 2 If history repeats itself, this pair should have their first egg by the weekend. The female has been identified as a Canadian female bl 53/K, hatch from Ontario. The female previously nested at Carleton Peak along the North shore in 2009 and Mayo in 2010. We will confirm male's banding status this week.

It is a certificate issue according to my computer. It says the certificate is not yet valid. I'll keep trying.
Thanks for the link. dt

And, amazingly, it came right up for me. Looks like a brand new box - I wonder where on the Plummer Building. Will have to check it out next time I'm downtown. And at the top are Ch1 and Ch2 to change the views. Hope it gets working for all of you (and continues working for me).

I worked there for 4 years and always looked forward to banding in the Judd Auditorium.

I've tried changing different security options and even though I ok it, windows won't let me do it because of unknown publisher. Is there any way to get the publisher on there?

I also had trouble with the Mayo camera after watching all last spring. The publisher ID on logging in ran out Nov 2010. I don't know why they haven't updated it. Does anyone know how to contact the person who would control such a thing?
In the meantime, if you download Firefox 4 (it's free), you can get to the camera although it is a small picture. Internet Explorer requires you to disable all security features to view - and that is not a wise move.
I haven't seen any activity at this box yet - so busy watching the Decorah Eagles. Are there any updates on the peregrines at Mayo?

They shut down the camera in the fall since there is nothing to observe and not worth keeping the site up (as many sites close down in the off season).
I just spoke with the staff at the site and the birds appear to be spending more time on an adjacent building. I will be going down there on Friday to talk with the staff, since the placement of the box was more than suitable in previous years, but this newer pair of birds might have ideas of their own (the wonderful aspects of working with wildlife). As I have more information, I will be sure to post it. The birds are still active on other parts of the clinic campus and we hope to have more news soon.

Thanks! I saw them there last year when I had my mother-in-law down for a trip. I became aware they were around when I saw a drift of feathers float past the window - someone was plucking prey above! It was really neat. After her exam, I took her outside and we got to see them fly through the campus. She loved it. Also, the peregrine information display (Mayo has many neat information displays) included a picture of Dr. Tordoff, Dr. Redig, and - a young Bob Anderson. His work there preceeded me knowing him, so that was fun to see.
Thanks for reporting on this site.

Yes, thanks for any information. My husband and I followed last year's birds - we were almost joined at the hip it seemed - they were our inspiration. After 8 months of being at Mayo for his leukemia, the first of April 2010 was not only the start of his last treatment, but the beginning of our constant watching as each egg was laid and then hatched. We showed our doctors and kept our PAs and nurses at Methodist up to date as we watched them every day. Our return home to northern Minnesota in May was even more special when we discovered we could continue to watch them online. When the last young one finally took that leap of faith, tears rolled down my cheeks. Those peregrines were truly the most healing gift - full of the joy of life!

Tamarack, I hope your husband is still doing well. In a way the fledglings leaving on their new journey was like your husband beginning his next step to "freedom". Welcome by the way!
