The banding was today.  Unfortunately I fell and hurt myself this weekend so I couldn't make it.  I'm really disappointed that I may miss more bandings.   Cry

I'm sorry to hear that you fell and hurt yourself, Diane. What bad luck to have to miss the banding. I hope you will feel better soon and will heal quickly.

What a bummer, Diane.  The only bright side is that you avoided being bitten up by chiggers.  Hope you are feeling better soon.

I've meant to post this news earlier, but I guess I didn't get to it.  One of the osprey chicks from the 2005 King plant has survived and is nesting this year along the Mississippi!  He's  TT.  I'm not positive, but I think he's the chick in the back.  The letters that year were TT, TU and TV.  TU is on the right and the letter on the band of the left chick doesn't look like a T.  I went to the banding this year, but because of my injury, I didn't go out to the nest  Cry .  Instead I watch from my spotting position across the river.  With the foliage, I couldn't photograph the banding so my pictures are mostly flight photos and it was cloudy so the birds are darker.
He is such a good osprey dad, I just love him.  Of all my ospreys, he is my favorite this year.  He's the type that won't get off the eggs when it's his turn to incubate.  The female has to bite him or motion to bite him after she's done all she can to kill time (preening, nest adjustments, snooze).  He really has a personality.

Hopefully, this will take you to the public facebook photo album.

Really nice photos, Diane - thanks!  That pole is huge.  I was wondering how long the female would hold onto the stick.  The photo with both the male and female in flight is a great example of their size difference.

She did hang onto that stick for a long time.

I forgot to mention the adult flying in my last post is of the adult TT.  He's such a handome male.

There will soon be fewer and fewer family photos after the chicks learn to fly (I know...I'm reposting a picture).
