I read the forum threads all the time and rarely post, but I wanted to share this with you all. I have found a terrific set of cams at L&D 13, located above Fulton, IL and Clinton, IA!! (Maybe D1 will show up here this winter... if she ever leaves Decorah. lol)

The website is Stewards of the Upper Mississippi Refuge www.sumriver.org
and the cams can be found at www.sumriver.org/webcam.html .
Four cams are listed on the page. First is the cam of the tailwaters area...it's exciting to see the eagles flying by and sitting in the trees! Second is the nest cam… the adult pair, Hope and Valor, are at the nest everyday, preparing the nest and eating there, too. There is sound at nest; no IR at either cam. I found IE to be the best browser. Plug-ins may be required to view cams. I had to download Java and an audio plug-in.

I have a newspaper article about the history of the nest here.

It was the best surprise I received in one of my Christmas boxes!!   Grin

Hope you enjoy these cams as much as I do! Makes me miss my birthplace, but I don't miss the cold of winter.

Mounting up on wings like eagles....

I'm not having much luck seeing these cams.  In Firefox I get a really fuzzy gray pic on the first cam -- trees look like something out of Alfred Hitchcock and they take up about 9/10 of the view.  I do see birds flying by now and then, but the whole view is B/W/gray and very jerky.  Is that what everyone else sees?  The second cam (nest) seems to keep trying to refresh through a series of blurry round things that I suppose is the nest, but it looks more like something in a petri dish.  I can't get either of those pages to open in IE.

The first two times I thought I had freeze frame. The third time it was foggy, but I could see the movement. I don't know if the quality is supposed to be better. I sent the link to two friends, they said it was the same for them.

It is rain and ice I think on the cam at the nest and it seems to be foggy for the water cam I haven't given up yet I think once the weather is better it will be good
Beth at BCAW got this between rain drops this evening

Great camera this morning at the lock and dam-lots of eagles hanging out in the trees.  We have been to several spots along the Mississippi during the winter and it has great eagle viewing just like this.  One of our favorite places is Bellevue Iowa-lock and dam 12-river is narrow there and you get some great close ups of the eagles.

Wow! Panning was just done at the L&D area! Not quick enough to catch but one pix though. I can hear the barges signaling to lock operators. Oh memories!!
