Thanks, Pris. Well let's get this started by giving some information about White Rock. It is another nest sponsored by the Hancock Wildlife Foundation. The live feed is carried at
http://www.hancockwildlife.org/index.php?topic=White-Rock-Eagle1with both a wide angle and a closeup camera.
It is also carried on Wild Earth at
http://www.wildearth.tv/hwf-whiterock-02but I have never had as much luck with the Wild Earth Link.
On a private portion of the White Rock bluff overlooking Boundary Bay is a small grove of evergreens. One tree, only about 100 feet from the back porch of the home, has an eagle nest in it. The owners have donated the installation of two cameras for us to watch this active eagle nest (closeup); one in the tree near the nest, and one in an adjacent tree overlooking the nest tree (wide angle) with a view of the bay in the background.
This nest was built in November of 2009 after the pair's original nest, 500 yards north of this site, was disturbed by construction. Two chicks were successfully raised to fledging in Summer of 2010 and also 2011.
Note that the infrared lights installed in the nest cannot be seen by the eagles, only by the cameras.
Live View WindowsI have been a member of the Foundation for a few years and think very highly of this organization.
The forum and discussion can be found at
http://www.hancockwildlife.org/forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=110109and the chat is on the Wild Earth cam page.
Hancock Wildlife also sponsors other cams, one, of course, Pris is familiar with, and that is the Delta 2 Nest located in BC.
A map of all their cams and the names of their cams is found at
http://www.cbc.ca/bc/features/eaglecam/You can access all the cams from that site and just switch back and forth to see all the action. Hancock has lost one cam I liked which was located in Sydney. The eagles decided to move to another nest, and the new property owner would not allow access for cam placement/installation.
