Thanks for that info Amy - I'm watching and waiting for Nora to return.
In the meantime, could you ask Bob what he thinks of Diane's post of 2/18 with pictures from 2/16 and 2/17? And what do you thing of them?

I'm probably thinking of a different nest, didn't Bob put another band on Nora one year when she was caught? Like I said, I'm probably thinking of a different mom. Maybe it was Duluth? Nora the person

Maybe a different nest - Nora doesn't have a band on the right. I can't tell for sure if there is a band on the right leg of the falcon on the left in the photo of the two below. Linda |

I had quite a day today at Black Dog. I saw a peregrine on the outside "porch" of the box. It scratched its head with the right leg and I saw it had a band so it wasn't Nora. It flew off so I got out of my car so I could photograph it in flight, but I couldn't find it. I was about to get back into my car when I saw a peregrine fly behind some trees and I saw what looked like another peregrine. One landed on a large tower, close to where my ospreys nest. I moved my car over so I could look at it with my scope (I was using a window mount). One peregrine was on the tower eating and the other was over on another part of the tower. If only I had a wee bit more power in my scope. I had a perfect look at the band of the peregrine eating, but couldn't read it.
Here's the best part. While the one was eating (I'm assuming the male brought or had a meal and gave it to the female), the male came in and tried to copulate. He was rejected and she went back to eating. About 10 mins later, when she was done, he tried again and I think succeeded. The male had bands on both legs. The female had a band on the left leg for sure, and I think one on the right. I think she had one on the right, but I can't say for sure that she did. At any rate, they are already copulating!
In the first photo, you can see the male in the upper left of the photo and the female is on the center of the tower. I cropped as close as I could of the pair when they were done copulating. This is the best I can do to try to show bands. If you have Windows XP, after you open the photo, go to the lower right corner of your screen and click on "100%" or the down arrow to enlarge the photo. I looks like a band on her right leg.

Fantastic report Diane. I really appreciate your detailed report. It seems that there is definitely a pair now, and I am still living in hope that the female is Nora.

That IS too bad you couldn't quite read the numbers. Definitely sounds like a pair, it's nice to have a pair of eyes besides the cam.
These two were from yesterday, but I thought the one with the shadow was neat....Nora
